a full length album? of that one song that they play over and over and over again in only subtly variating ways? great news.

Not only is "all the songs sound the same" the laziest critique around, but - given the immense differences between sway, mothers and wrecking force for example - so is not actually listening to something before critiquing it.

a lazy critique, sure - but used to critique frickin' LAZY MUSIC. sure there are "immense" differences between those songs, same way the differences between songs were also "immense" on that interpol album from a while back - and where the hell did interpol go? what i'm saying is the differences are only as vast as you say they are the first few listens. after that they're just another boring band writing the sort of predictable ditties they know work, over, and over, and over again. there's nothing necissarily wrong with that, and in all honesty i like voxtrot fine, i'm just saying. repetitive. everyone's all over them now but it's only a matter of time before people all stop caring. it's like that quote from trainspotting "although some of it sounds alright, it's really...just...shite." also, please don't assume i'd critique something without listening? AND KIT! shut up! you're right and i know you're right!!

Were you bitten by a voxtrot as a small child? Jesus... I haven't seen that much rage since you lashed out at those Vikings for raping your sister... which was fair.
But, OK Clara, put your money where your month is. IN WHAT WAY are they similar (be specific)? Is the chord structure the same, or are they all in the same key, or do they just sound that way to you? I mean, all chinese 12th century music sounds the same to me, but I'm sure Emperor Whatever-his-face was all over that twangy shit, you know.

sorry! i didn't mean to come off as...rageful....

voxtrot's songs all just sound the same to me. excuuuuse me if i'm not musically savvy enough to talk about chord structures and that, but as soon as there's a catchy melody with a note range small enough to play on a plastic recorder, i just think, okay. just like last song.

like i said, though, i like voxtrot okay. there's nothing...WRONG with them. i just don't think there's really any point to them being around.

what have they got that nobody else has?

coldplay has chris martin's voice paired with that amazing swirly feeling. death cab, the lyrics and that....i don't know, IMAGE, that makes them sound like something super special even when a lot of times they're not. bad examples. but okay guys (kit, "adrian"): what does voxtrot have that's original, that sets them apart?

i mean, it seems to me everyone else has got SOMETHING (even though yah, my examples sucked?)...and they don't! they are just THERE. like, bands that get big (i'm talking, i don't know, of-montreal-big, not oasis-big), get big for a reason. what's their reason? they seem so unambitious! am i being specific enough? no!

but uh...as of now i don't expect them to start changing things in music. they seem to have just caught that, i don't know, sort of indie-pop-rock (nope?) WAVE. and they're just riding it. like hawthorne heights or cute is what we aim for caught the "scene kid" wave. even the way voxtrot LOOK is just.....m'eh. like they're copycats or something, does that make sense?

so, ok, full, length, great, why the hell should i pay attention to them?

I INVESTED SO MUCH INTO THIS AND I TYPED THIS WITH SO MUCH PHONY CONVICTION THAT I AM GUARANTEED TO COME OUT LOOKING STUPID. SO I WILL CHICKEN OUT! THIS "ARGUMENT", ON MY END OF THINGS AT LEAST, IS OVER.

OH BUT WAIT I ALSO WANTED TO SAY THAT I THINK THEIR LYRICS ARE VERY HIGHSCHOOL POETRY BUT OK THATS JUST ME

OK. I detect, mainly, that they have been already granted sufficient attention in the mass media. I was unaware of this. I don't really pay attention to anything. If that's the case, fine.

I don't think they're particularly original, but I also don't think everyone has to be original. Me recording the sound my cock makes as a I bang it against a newborn and hit his feet with a triangle may be original but it's certainly not good. Conversely, Monet's 50th painting wasn't that original, but it was good.

I'm not trying to say that they're the modern incarnation of Monet for music. Far from it. Rather, if (if!) their music is pleasing then it doesn't really bother me that it's not overly original.

Fine. Two shitty posts in a row -that's what happens when I eschew quality for quantity, go read my post on Africa, I swear I don't suck all the time.
